Sparkpeople

SparkPeople.com :: Make Your Life An Adventure
There is a wonderful FREE resource for people who are trying to live a healthy lifestyle. The website is http://www.sparkpeople.com/ . Our family is on a strict budget so it's nice to find something that is this useful for free. When you join this site (which is free), you have access to their nutrition tracker. You search for the food that you eat and it will put it on your plan and will include calories, carbs., fat, and protein. You can also keep track of your water consumption here. They offer meal plans and a fitness tracker. Using the fitness tracker you can keep track of strength training and cardio. as well as view the exercise demos. You have the ability to keep track of your weight and measurement if you so chose and it will give you a time line for your goals. There is also a place where teens can keep track. You have the ability to join groups based on your age, interests, weight lose goals, health issues and so much more.

The Weights Over

I have decided (once again) that it is time to get serious about health and fitness. I have done that so many times before, but this time I have a different kind of motivation. My eleven year old daughter is developing some very disheartening eating habits and it's starting to show. I know how those extra pounds can make you feel and I don't want this to happen to her. She's only eleven so I know this is an awkward pre-puberty "baby fat" stage, but her pediatrician said she is very low on the height scale and very high on the weight scale. I don't want her to approach this as a diet, so we are planning to eat healthier and exercise more. I want to try to make this a mother/daughter time for bonding and exercise. Hopefully, we can change this together.

About Me

I am "Thinking Thin". I am a wife and mother. I have been married for 13 years, and have 2 daughers age 11 and 8. I recently went back to school to enhance my bachelors degree with a teaching license. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a permanent position, therefore I am a substitute teacher with our local school districts.  I have been struggling with my weight and have realized I need to make a change in my diet so my children will have the opportunity to grow up strong and healthy.  I'm in persuit of family fitness ideas that are inexpensive, and healthy meals that kids will love.  You can contact me at theweightsover@gmail.com
